Angel Locsin opens Fashion Week

Rumor has it that she is still avoiding Claudine Barretto. This speculation was even furthered by her no-show at Folded & Hung’s 10th year anniversary fashion show in a posh mall in Makati . But in a separate fashion show for the same clothing apparel, Angel appeared and wowed the crowd present at the event held at SM Mall of Asia. After the event, she told the press that she is not really a part of the anniversary fashion show for that day she is supposed to be in Australia shooting for an upcoming film with Piolo Pascual.

Her flight to the land down under was rescheduled because of a problem with her visa, and since she’s no longer a part of the anniversary fashion show, she just went to Subic to shoot the remaining scenes of her film. Excuses excuses! Anyway, let’s just wait for her movie since it is a defining moment of her career. The box office performance of Land Down Under will tell whether Angel is still a star or just a diminutive twinkling celestial body that gradually loses it sheen.

Snooky Serna

Spooky is one of the most popular words this Halloween, and this word is the best way to describe Snooky’s looks some few months back. Imagine coloring or shaving her hair, she really looked spooky if not eccentric during the past months. With a bald head, people thought she was acting like Britney Spears, but her status in showbiz is that prominent to do such juxtaposition.

This time, however, she looks normal and pretty, we guess. After a failed marriage and an affair with a very much younger man, Snooky once again is feeling happy and in love. Though she has now become tight-lipped with issues concerning her love life, it shows in her aura that she is at peace or contented with current love interest.

Karylle

After her stint at the local theater production of West Side Story, we have not heard much about this actress except for the rumored breakup with boyfriend Dingdong Dantes. The couple is cautious in answering questions when asked by the press. They even say that they want to answer the issue at the right time.

What actually triggers the issue is Dingdong’s perennial paring with phenomenal actress Marian Rivera. The truth is, viewers and fans are more than excited to see the on-screen couple together in real life. The more Dingdong and Karylle procrastinate in answering issues about their relationship, the more rumors would come out. And at the height of speculations, someone who is not seen regularly and talked about by the public will lose any sympathy from them.

Jewel Mische

She is pitted between two men. The issue about her started when reports came out that Richard Gutierrez and Aljur Abrenica had a confrontation in a high-end bar in Makati . Jewel, who was not in the same place where the argument happened (which is actually the opposite of what had been earlier reported), is believed to be the reason why the two Kapuso stars were engage in a near-fight incident.

The two men involved are starting to release their own statement, but the real question is: what does Jewel have to make these men engage themselves in argument (or whatever they would want to call it)? And who is Jewel Mische in the very first place?

Another television’s much awaited comeback is Master Rapper’s appearance on Eat Bulaga. Francis, who was diagnosed with leukemia last August, thrilled a number of viewers as he performed alongside another music icon Ely Buendia. The two artists, who are both embattled by their illnesses, definitely propelled Eat Bulaga’s rating as it posted 27.4 percent – a much higher viewership compared to its rival Wowowee that averages only at 17 percent.

His appearance on the noontime show also belied some malicious emails that have circulated over the internet concerning his condition. Just like in is fun rap showdown in a TVC, he is alive, kicking and “listong-listo.”

Aside from giving birth, her decision of leaving The Buzz last year was also her way of protecting her family from unnecessary intrigues. Now, the Philippine queen of talk made a fairytale comeback on The Buzz replacing Cristy Fermin, who was suspended from the show due to ethical issues brought about by her verbal tussle with Nadia Montenegro .

Many were delighted (thought it didn’t reflect on the program’s rating) last Sunday when Kris’ returning to the show coincided with the birthday celebration of her best friend Boy Abunda. She greeted her confidante wearing a Snow White costume.

Her two boys must have liked Kris’ costume but then again they will be missing their mom for eight consecutive Sundays. It was indeed a tough decision for Kris because hosting The Buzz means spending less time with her family. Yes she will be joining Ruffa Gutierrez and Boy for eight consecutive weeks, a favor she is doing for the networks overwhelming support to her career.

Ryan Agoncillo

He is riding a helicopter while delivering his spiel for his upcoming show on ABSCBN. The teaser of Pinoy Fear Factor is so striking that viewers have begun to anticipate the show that was entirely shot in Argentina .

Aside from Pinoy Fear Factor, Ryan will also return to acting via Pieta alongside veteran actress Cherie Gil. This is indeed a big challenge to this 29-year-old TV host for he will be playing the role that once topbilled by Bong Revilla and the late Ace Vergel. Also for the first time, he will not be acting with superstar girlfriend Judy Ann Santos who has a number of followers enough to support all her television projects. Now, this is the real challenge.

Eugene Domingo

There’s no doubt that she is one of the funniest actresses in local entertainment. With numerous acting awards under her belt, Eugene, who started as a dramatic actress in University of the Philippines ’ Dulaang UP, can easily get roles in movies and television series. But with her tight schedule and miscommunication with producers, she has lost several projects that might have added some digits to her bank account.

As reported, Eugene was pulled out from two movies under Regal Films and that she is now banned to do any film under the production outfit. Although she has other projects like Ang Tanging Ina Ninyong Lahat under Star Cinema and her first leading role in a movie entitled Demetria M.D., losing such project is still a big lost.

Gagambino

Carlo J. Caparas’ celebrated graphic novel Gagambino that is turned into a television series starring Dennis Trillio is making waves on primetime television. Now dubbed as the Pinoy Spiderman, the fantasy series has maintained the feat created by Dyesebel that used to have the same timeslot it occupies.

Bino, the role that Dennis plays, is fast becoming a household name and has created a great recall among the younger audience. With Dennis, who had study three forms of martial arts to prepare for this particular role, Gagambino creates another milestone to his career for he is beginning to owe different types of audiences; a strategic way to put his name among the versatile actors in the land.

Sheryn Regis

Pinch size singer-actress Sheryn, who was probably born to shout all the time, received the Asia’s Best Female Performing Artist award given by the Asian Star Entertainment Awards held last October 4 at the Gateway Mandarin Suites in Araneta Center.

As the award name suggests, people will definitely think that Sheryn has beaten other Asian artists to win the award. Apparently, there were no Asian artists nominated for the category she won, or even with the other categories presented during the awards night.

With her performance on ASAP where she regularly appears, she is nothing compared to the other artists or singers in the program. Nobody questions her talent because she can actually sing, but the credibility of the award giving body and the panel who chose the winners are in question. Why? Paolo Ballesteros

Last April, he was asked on Showbiz Central if he spent his vacation in New York with a special someone. He said yes but just with an ex-girlfriend who happened to be his classmate and that they are really close even if they are no longer together.

Now, Paolo is very proud to announce that he is going to be a father soon. According to him, his non-showbiz ex-girlfriend named Kaye who is based in Chicago is pregnant and apparently he is the father. Wow Pao, that’s a nice story to tell.

Though others suggest that his revelation is something very premeditated to cover up some issues about his sexuality, Paolo firmly denied the rumor about him being gay. So let us just set the record straight and greet the daddy congratulations.

Kahit Isang Saglit

This Jericho Rosales and Carmen Soo starrer will soon be aired in Malaysia , Singapore and Hong Kong with Cantonese subtitle. This will open Jericho (Rocky) and Carmen (Garie) to a wider Asian market, which would probably open new windows of opportunity for both actors.

While this highly publicized television series is being groomed to be the next big thing in the Asian television, its rating performance here in Philippines seems to be the opposite of what its producers have envisioned. Since its premiere, it only averages less than 20 percent of primetime viewership. It is actually the least watched Filipino television series on primetime.

The Rosales and Soo tandem is not that appealing to the taste of Filipino audience. One thing puzzling though, Rocky and Garie are the same names of characters Jericho and ex-girlfriend Kristine Hermosa played in their 2003 movie Ngayon Nandito Ka.What is so special with the names? We don’t know.

She was all smiles when she sang the Tagalog version of Rihanna’s Don’t Stop the Music. It was a taped show (do they do live?). While she’s dancing and singing the familiar tune, viewers were wondering about her sudden flight to Hong Kong and her infamous arrival at the NAIA.

Sharon ’s life, just like any other celebrities, is an open book and there’s no stopping the public from creating speculations about her private life. She said that she’s burned out with intrigues. She has the right to be and she can even claim for privacy, but the things, this is not the right time to be burned out. She’s been in showbiz for 30 years now.

Though husband Sen. Kiko Pangilinan and daughter KC had already spoken and denied any rift in their family, they cannot stop the music (or intrigue for that matter) people are creating. This is showbiz, when actors enter this world, they are opening or actually welcoming intrigues to be part of their life.

Angelika dela Cruz

Television station hopper Angelika surprised the public when she disclosed that she is expecting a child and already married to non-showbiz boyfriend Orion Casereo since August. Without doing too much mental calisthenics, if they wedded in August, it means that during that time she’s already one month pregnant. So that must be the reason why she made such announcement despite her earlier pronouncements that they planned to tie the knot next year.

Hmm, since anytime soon, her tummy will bulge, are we going to see Angelika in Lalola wearing a maternity dress?

Ako si Kim Sam Soon

The Filipino version of the phenomenal and award winning Korean drama My Name is Kim Sam Soon was on top of the ratings race when it bade goodbye to its avid viewers. This Regine Velasquez and Mark Anthony Fernandez starrer toppled the perennial number 1 Dyesebel on the overnight TV ratings conducted by AGB Neilsen among Mega Manila households covering the dates October 10 to 13.

Khryss Adalia, the comedy drama’s director, must be smiling from heaven upon knowing that his last television directing ended dominating primetime viewership. Adalia, who was diagnosed with colon cancer on August 20 this year, died on October 13.

Vina Morales

She is very proud in telling the whole wide world that she is pregnant. Though the whole wide world does not seem to be that interested to her announcement, we believe that it is about time for this 32-year-old actress to start a new career as a mother because whether she admits it or not, her star does not shine anymore.

Gone are the days when people are irritated with her vocal style and muscled arms, and at the same time amazed with her well-toned abs and dancing flair. Anyway, her Chinese boyfriend, whose first marriage is not yet annulled, is a businessman (most Chinese is, right?). He can definitely provide for her and for their soon-to-be small family.

Mo Twister

He is often controversial because of his radio program Forbidden Questions. But this bold-opinionated hobbit is going to be more controversial because he has a new show on ANC titled I.M.O. (In My Opinion).

In our opinion, Mo has been good enough or even outstanding as program host that is why new hosting projects are kissing his doorstep. On the other hand, we are not pretty sure if his loquaciousness can do any good to his daughter with Bunny Paras. Bunny has the custody of their daughter Moira, meaning the she has all the control in raising the kid. Mo (in our humble opinion again) must refrain from throwing appalling comments against Bunny. If he could just stay mum for a while, maybe, the mother of his child can have something good to say to their kid about him.

Banana Split

The highly publicized Going Bananas’ spin off Banana Split debuted last week. With a lineup of sexy women with beautiful faces like Angelica Panganiban (well her curves are really different on TV and on magazine covers), Roxanne Guinoo, Christine Reyes, RR Enriquez, and Valerie Concepcion, the public just gave it a lukewarm welcome.

The show is a sexy comedy program, but watching the pilot episode, people are wondering: Yes they are drop-dead gorgeous, but where is the comedy? Its first episode featured hunk Zanjoe Marudo. The towering actor seemed so confident when delivering his lines, but the script writer must had forgotten to incorporate some humor to the dialogues, or if there was, it must be the actor who failed or didn’t know how to deliver it. This also works for the main cast; they don’t have the hilarity to tickle funny bones.
